Apple Rolls Out Stable iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 Updates for iPhone and iPad.
Apple has started rolling out the latest versions of its mobile operating systems to all supported devices. The US tech giant is rolling out the stable iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 updates for iPhone and iPad.
The update also brings a new Freeform app that helps users organize and visually layout content on a flexible canvas, giving them the ability to see, share, and collaborate all in one place.
It supports a wide range of files, preview them inline without ever leaving the board. The app is designed for collaboration, since it makes it easier to invite others to work on a board together. Users can even collaborate with others while on a FaceTime call. Freeform boards are stored in iCloud, so users can stay in sync across devices.
The update also adds Apple Music Sing that lets users sing along to their favorite songs with adjustable vocals and real-time lyrics. This offers multiple lyric views for duets, sing backup, and more.
The Advanced Data Protection for iCloud is also added. When Advanced Data Protection is turned on, the only parts of iCloud that aren’t encrypted from end to end are iCloud Mail, Contacts, and Calendar.
Apple is also restricting AirDrop to Contacts Only by default, rather than everyone. The AirDrop to everyone nearby is now limited to 10-minute period and revert to Contacts Only after that.
Other features include Lock Screen improvements for the iPhone, and the Stage Manager gets external display support with resolutions up to 6K on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later), iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later), and iPad Air (5th generation). There are also bug fixes for the iPhone and iPad. See changelog below.
