If you are using an iPhone model under the T-Mobile’s cellular network, chances are that you might have come across the “5G UC” icon on the status bar. If you are confused or wondering what it means, then you are in the right place. We will be taking a look at the what the 5G UC icon stands for, and its full meaning.
What Does 5G UC Stands For?
5G UC stands for 5G Ultra Capacity and it appears on iPhone devices under the T-Mobile 5G network. If you are on other carriers such as AT&T and Verizon, you will not see this icon since it only appears on T-Mobile devices. T-Mobile divides its 5G network into two types and this includes 5G Extended Range and the 5G Ultra Capacity.
5G Extended Range: This is indicated by the regular 5G icon, and is a bit faster than the 4G LTE. You will see this, when you are connected to a slow network or a slow band.
5G Ultra Capacity: This is indicated by the 5G UC icon and it comes as a faster version of the regular 5G network. This appears on you are on a stronger network signal. See this, means or indicate that you are connected to either mid-band or millimeter wave (mmWave) 5G. This is the T-Mobile’s faster 5G network.
Meaning Of 5G+, 5G UW and 5G E
Just like T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon, also have their own icon that appears on their devices. The “5G+” status icon appears on the iPhone that is connected to AT&T’s 5G millimeter wave network. The “5G UW” appears on the iPhone that is connected to Verizon’s Ultra Wideband 5G network. The 5G E icon on the other hand, is not really a 5G network but a standard 4G LTE.
I believe that you now understand what the 5G UC on your iPhone stands for. The 5G UC, 5G+, and 5G UW icons all indicate good and fast 5G signals.
